How Kenya 2020 uses your data

Financial supporter data

If you agree to support us financially, you may have sent us data via one or more of the following:

Gift Aid Form

We store this data to enable us to claim tax from your donation. The data in this form is not used for any other data. If you have so indicated on the form, we will add you name and email address to our marketing email group . We use this to send email updates on our activities at infrequent intervals throughout the year (normally quarterly).

Just Giving

If you donate via the Just Giving website you will be given the option to provide your name and email address to Kenya 2020. If you chose to provide us with this data, we will add you name and email address to our marketing email group . We use this to send email updates on our activities at infrequent intervals throughout the year (normally quarterly).

Bank Transfers

If you send us a donation via bank transfer, we will be provided with the account name from which the payment came. We do not use this data for any purpose other than financial reconciliation.

Card payment donation

If you make a donation via our secure online card donation form, we will receive the data you provide in the form to allow us to reconcile your donation. You have the option on the form to be kept up to date with Kenya 2020’s activities. If you chose to provide us with this data, we will add you name and email address to our marketing email group . We use this to send email updates on our activities at infrequent intervals throughout the year (normally quarterly).

Email addresses

Financial supporters

If you have provided your email address as part of a financial donation, we will send you an email to acknowledge your donation. We will occasionally need to contact you if your donation is regular. For example, if we change our bank details or if we need you to redeclare your Gift Aid declaration.

Updates on our activities

If you chose to provide us with your email address to allow us to send you updates on our activities, we will store your name and email address with our email provider, Mailchimp. You can stop receiving these emails at any point by clicking ‘unsubscribe’ in the email you receive. Alternatively, you can contact Kenya 2020 directly and we can remove you from this database.

Data storage

We take care to ensure we only store your data with trusted providers. Our providers are Google and Mailchimp. We store physical data, eg letters, in a locked filing cabinet.

Other data

If you write to us, we will store your data in a filing cabinet. We will keep this for as long as we require it, up to 5 years

Website cookies

Some websites use cookies (small files stored on your computer) to track your activity to measure how the site is performing or to potentially identify you.

The Kenya 2020 website does not use cookies to track your activity. The underlying website provider does use cookies for the website functionality. The payment provider that processes card payments (Stripe) uses cookies to allow the form to function.

Access to your data

If you want a record of your personal data we hold on file, both paper and electronic, please contact us.

If you wish Kenya 2020 to delete all your personal data we hold on file, please contact us. Please note, where your data pertains to financial transactions, we are required to maintain copies of this data according to the rules specified by the Charity Commission and HMRC.

Third parties

We never share your data with third parties for the purposes of marketing or other activities.

We may be required to share your data with government organisations eg HMRC to allow us to process Gift Aid declarations etc.

We may receive your data via third parties eg payment providers or websites like Just Giving.
